Rules of the NZDTA
This document contains the official rules for the NZDTA
that came into effect on 1 April, 2010.Continuing Education
As an approver and provider of CPD activities, the NZDTA supports members with continuing professional development
that is intended to broaden skills and knowledge, encourage reflective practice, improve personal qualities and
experiences, enhance professionalism, and optimize patient outcomes.NZDTA provides members with documentation to assist in understanding CPD requirements, developing their CPD programmes, and recording the CPD programmes that have been undertaken. This documentation, and other information, is presented on the CPD for members page. Details of conferences and symposiums organised by other associations and organisations that may be beneficial to members for CPD can be located on both the Events page or the (members only) Continuing Education page. Other matters for members are included in our 'Other Matters for Members' page. Want to keep up to date?
The need for oral health professionals to keep up to date is increasing and finding time to do this can be difficult. The NZDTA makes keeping up to date with current oral health and other health related research, easier for members by making several research review publications available on the website. Each article has been reviewed by an appropriate expert so the hard work is done for you. If there are articles you wish to follow up, there are links at the bottom of each reviewed article. The full text of most articles needs to be purchased, but some are free to view. Members are also encouraged to find out what additional resources might be available through their District Health Board Library facilities and make use of these. Again, accessing articles through the DHB may not always be free of charge. Contact a NZDTA Branch
The Branch contact list allows members to locate branches in each area, to find
out details about meeting dates, times and venues. Are you protected?
The protection offered by indemnity insurance is important for oral health professionals including dental therapists and dental
therapists/dental hygienists. And the NZDTA urges members to take out their own personal cover. Personal indemnity insurance can be purchased through the New Zealand Dental Association, which is an agent for DPL a company that specialises in this type of insurance for dental professionals. Discounts on premiums are available for NZDTA members. For further information please contact: Jill Watson NZDA 09 579 8001 jill@nzda.org.nz |
