Professional Advisor Dental Therapy / Dental Therapist

We seek an experienced Dental Therapist to provide practice leadership to our team of Dental Therapists and Dental Assistants, including those in the Southland Hospital based Dental Unit, for a fixed term period ending December 2011.
 
The position comprises both Professional Advisor (0.4FTE) and Dental Therapist roles (0.6FTE).
 
As the Professional Advisor, the ideal candidate will have ability to train, lead and influence practice, exhibiting good organisational, communication and negotiation skills. You will be able to work both independently and as a team member, ensuring provision of a comprehensive Dental Therapy Service to Invercargill, and the wider Southland area including Queenstown/Arrowtown.
 
As a motivated and committed Dental Therapist you will have the opportunity to work in our Invercargill super-clinics and on one of our new mobile dental units, both of which provide an enjoyable, modern working environment. With a passion for providing education, treatment and preventative care you will enjoy working as part of our dynamic team in the integrated public dental service.

WANTED - DENTAL THERAPIST AND DENTAL HYGIENIST VOLUNTEERS

Interested in volunteering for a couple of weeks (or more) in Cambodia?
The One-2-One Charitable Trust is involved in providing dental services to the poor in Cambodia, and works with one of the two dental schools and several local NGOs. At the Faculty of Dentistry, International University up to 40 children per day (mainly orphans) are treated in a large multichair dental clinic. The dental school is short of staff skilled in treating children, and would welcome visits by therapists for one or more weeks to help supervise students and provide some treatment as necessary. The clinic also sees a lot of adult patients with perio problems and would also welcome dental hygienists to help students with their perio treatment. In addition, One-2-One has Saturday visits to local prisons to provide treatment, and occasional trips of up to 5 days to provincial areas, in order to provide treatment for orphans and poor children. They use mobile equipment for these trips.
 
If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch with One-2-One.
You will need to pay for your own airfare, food, and accommodation (from $US16 a night in Phnom Penh - single room). For provincial outreach visits of several days, we ask for your help in funding these trips, as we also take Cambodian dental student volunteers who cannot afford to pay for themselves.
